Another reason is because the programming procedures for when you have lost all car keys can be different for certain types of vehicles, rather than making a copy.
Pin Code Programming and Bypass
Certain vehicles, especially dodge, chrysler, and Jeep, require a pin code for the programming. Normally, this would make the car key more expensive to duplicate and program because we would have additional costs when it comes to processing the VIN in order to get that PIN code.
